Doula Services
What is a doula?
A doula is a non-medical labor support person. As a doula, it is my job to provide you with any resources that you may want, to support you physically and emotionally through labor and birth by using various pain-coping techniques, and to help you transition into your new role as a mother. I am here to give you complete support, no matter what type of birth you want or have, where you give birth, or any other conditions. This is your birth, and I am here to make sure that you are prepared, cared for, heard, and ready for this beautiful birth experience.

Are there any actual benefits from having a doula?
Yes! According to Evidencebasedbirth.com (a fantastic resource), moms who had continuous support throughout labor were less likely to need pain medications, epidurals, assisted deliveries, and were less likely to have a Cesarean. Some moms even had shorter labors, and their babies had higher APGAR scores. Doulas are also known for encouraging moms to advocate for themselves and their preferences, which instills more confidence in them in the long term. No matter what kind of birth you are planning for, a doula can help you decide on and create a list of preferences, so you feel comfortable and prepared.
Let's just say that there's no reason not to have one by your side when baby decides to join us!

Included Services:
- 1 Prenatal Visit, so we can get to know each other and go over some comfort measures.
- Labor support starting from active labor, or whenever you decide you need me to support you, until 1-2 hours after baby is born.
- 1 Postpartum Visit, so we can make sure everyone is good and that breastfeeding has been well established (if applicable).
- Available via text/email whenever needed! Have a question, just ask.
- 4 weeks of on call time. I am just a phone call away from heading to your birth. I'm kind of like a mailman...rain or shine, I'll be there to support your birth!
- Unconditional support. Your birth choices are your own, and I am here to support you no matter what your plans are.
- At our Prenatal Visit, I will also help you go over your birth preferences (plan). It's not so much about the plan itself, but about the knowledge and research that comes from creating it.
- Additional Prenatal and Postpartum visits may be added on for an additional fee.
